Hi folks just to let you know that one month after having allergy tests done on both my dogs, Barney has improved greatly, on raw chicken and veg, plus supplements, also antihistamines, (still don't like to say too much incase the itching returns) we weaned him off atopica three weeks ago now, and its the first time in two years he has not scratched, which is fantastic.
But Molly is another story, she has not improved at all, she is on weekly baths of malaseb shampoo, which helps for two days, then the itchy starts again, still mostly on her back area, and head, she now has some red areas, along with the small yellow brown crusty bits (which are going since using the malaseb).
I feel for her she has scratched now for over a year with no respite, AM I missing something, could it be something else, what does a rash caused by mites or fleas look like (or would my other dogs, have these if that was the case ?).
Also last night at tea time when I fed her chicken wings, (I forgot to give her digestive enzymes) and about one o'clock, she started with the licking and wrenching, up and down, all night (this happen last year when I tried her on a raw diet, each time I gave her bones we went through this) this time she was not sick or had the runs, but her first poo at lunch time today, had big bits of undigested bone in it, my other two's poos were fine. How can I tell if she is going through a detox or she has a problem with diet or something else ? I am going back to the vets tomorrow, any one have any thought's as to what is going on?
she is on raw chicken and mixed veg, antihistamines which we just changed on friday, fish oil, probiotics digestive enzymes kelp alfalfa ester c vit e garlic.
I thought by removing the foods that she was allergic to, that I would have seen some improvement, granted she has more environmental allergies than Barney.
thanks for any help eleanor

Great News on Barney so things are looking good there.
Molly, is she the one with the most environmental allergies? If so I would go to a homoeopathic vet and get a special remedy made up for those environmental triggers. You can be referred by your own vet and again your insurance should cover this.
http://www.bahvs.com/vetmfhom.htmUndigested bone is not really an issue however you could choose to feed something like prize choice which is already minced up and has bone in it and add calcium via eggshells.
