Anybody bought the book?
Every week I think i must get the book and give it a go, but I never do!
I'm really tempted, I know I could never do the whole detox thing but I would love to have more energy and know what alternatives there are for some of the bad stuff I eat (though I'm not remotely as bad as some of those people on the show - a takeaway every night!!!!)

ooh what book..I didnt know there was a book!! I would love to know more about what I eat and what I should be eating!
I want to get the book!! I watch the programme with interest every week and find myself thinking that a lot of how I feel sometimes (ie tired, irritable etc etc) is attributed to what I eat.
Think I may go and treat myself to the book at the weekend!! I don't like the sound of alot of the stuff that she makes them eat - I think you can go a bit too extreme but its interesting to learn about the rest of the stuff.
I'd never really thought that my tiredness etc could be put down to vitamin deficiency before but I think it may well be the case!!
Have any of you looked at your tongues yet?!?!
I haven't watched the programme but have heard lots about it from friends. Inspecting peoples poos or something?! :)
I definitely feel so much better when I do a detox. Every couple of months I follow the Carol Vordermann detoxplan and not only lose weight but feel so much more energetic and look loads better. The only thing is that it's so boring and by the end of the 2 weeks I can't get down the Chinese quick enough! :D
But it might be interesting to have a look at the book to see what small changes you could make without feeling deprived all the time.

LOL, glad i'm not the only one who sits watching it thinking, ah, thats why i'm always tired and miserable. LOL. And I must admit to looking at my tongue last night but it didn't give any clues away:)
LOL - I looked at mine last night and must admit, not the prettiest sight in the world!! Had some cuts on it and so think I'm needing some extra vitamin B and I think she said zinc. Having said that I am just recovering from a nasty sickness bug that I had all over the weekend - not quite running on full cylinders yet!!
My OH was giving me nodding glances last night whilst it was on - I think he agrees too!! LOL

I heard her on the radio last week, and hubby and I were roaring with laughter at some of what she said - I mean she was completely unaware that frozen vegetables are actually fresher than 'fresh' vegetables from the greengrocer!
That aside, some of what she said made moderate sense, but again other stuff was just wierd - who eats the potato part of their dinner half an hour after the meat?
Brilliant programme! I haven't bought the book though as I'm into healthy(ish!) eating anyway so I know it all lol :D
She has a website too.
http://www.drgillianmckeith.com/ The book is cheaper on Amazon than her site though ;) There are loads of this book going on Ebay too. :)

Edit: Anyone fancy being in the next series of the show!....

I really want the book, my problem is im not overly fond of veg, i love fruit but clery and carrots are about the only veg i actually like. I noticed that on her site it tells you to take supplements, a lot of nutritionists seem to be against that and think you should do it all with food........ I definitely need some zinc though if it really does get rid of PMT, OH glares at me every week when she mentions taking zinc for PMT hehe

I also need to follow more of her rules :D - but to be honest her approach does seem a bit extreme, although I'm sure some of that is for the effect of the cameras. I'm not much good as a cook with beans, pulses and the like so am really not sure how to go about using them - anyone got any good recipes?
I'd be fascinated to know what incentives they use to keep people on this diet - these are people who've never eaten a vegetable and are physically gagging when they try some food - do they watch them 24 hours a day to see what they're eating?!?!?

The best cookery books for using pulses etc are those concentrating on cuisine from the Middle East; Claudie Roden has some excellent cookery books which make delicious dishes from beans, pulses, vegetables etc. Dishes from Egypt, The Lebanon, Turkey, Tunisia, Jordan, Israel etc
I agree, some of the Middle East recipes are really good; pilaffs and so on, many are really nice.
I have the book!! :D and actually it's packed full of info. When i watched the programme i thought "oh no another fly on the wall channel 4 OTT production" but was keen to know more. The book goes much more into how you can tell the various organs are not working effieciently. She goes into the detox etc but does come across with common sense, such as "if you don't feel like making the soup don't stress," and so on.
I believe you could easily lose weight and be incredibly healthy on what she rrecommends; i have incorporated some of her ideas (she says its fine to do this as it will still be beneficial) and have lost several pounds without trying :D
I'm not too keen on green vegetables but adore millet, brown rice and seeds, (try toasting the seeds lightly and sprinkling them over yogurt and fresh strawberries). Nice!

I bought the book and was a wee bit disappointed. I hoped it would be full of horror stories like the tv show but its full of what to eat to be healthy. I hoped I would be shocked into eating a bit healthier but a lot of the food in it is quite difficult to get hold of and theres none of the horrors like on the show. there is a great health section about checking your tongue and other body parts to see what bits of your body are not working effectively and where you have deficiencies. Just wondering if anyone has considered colonic irrigation since watching the show?

You get a really good internal wash and brush up................................... :D

I was going to buy the book, but then thought, well...I know what I am....I'm a walking, talking vineyard....with a very purple tongue !!! ;) :D
I bought the book, never heard of the TV programme, but I don't watch much tele anyway. I think I will take bits of the book, but don't think I could stick at it long term. I'm going to try the 24hour detox first and see what I feel like. Definitely not trying the colonics!!!!
