HI, Any advice welcome. My bitch was mated 24 days ago after a sucessful 20 minute tie. She has now been off her food a good few days now.I have not breed before so any advice is more than welcome .

My bitch is about 23 days from the first breeding. This is my first experience with a small breed. The past few days she isn't eating as well and is a little less active. other than that no signs so far. no weight gain either.
On my larger breed it was very hard to tell for the first 6-7 weeks.

Thank you for your replys . I went to asda and got my dog a tin of asda value TUNA and she did eat  most of it through out the day, I tried the remainder of the tin today but she turned her nose up at it. So I am going to try the sardines I bought also, See if this tempts her.
Is it ok if she lives on fish ???Will this be enough for pups??( if there are any)
Is there anything else I should be doing for my dog??

don't worry if she is in whelp she will soon start eating you out of house and home ...

Thanks for that I look forward to it as it's rather worrying her not eating.

just keep tempting her with foods she likes and try not to worry too much, a fluctuation in appetitie during pregnancy is normal :-)

UPDATE: Went to vets yesterday and vet thinks theres a good possibilty that my bitch is in whelp and just carrying 2 /3 pups .But only thinks surely a vet should know for certain these things . Just have to wait a little longer to find out by the looks of things. We are on day 30  of welp if she is !!!!!! So surely things should be showing soon ??????

Has she been scanned? If the vet has only palpated he might (if he's skilled and conception took wasn't later than expected) be able to feel the whelps at that stage. Many can't though. My vet palpated and felt 7 for one litter (she had 4, so clearly she absorbed some) and 5 for another litter (she had 5).

Hi, i,ve usually found with our breed (Cocker Spaniels) that they don,t really show any outward signs, in getting larger until into the sixth week could be later if only having a couple of pups.

Hi, the vet didnt  do a scan just had a feel around her , She said she thought she could feel something and thought she proerbly was due to my bitches glands being up.i am so grateful for everyones replies they are all very uselful to know.I supose its just the waiting game now.

Our girl is only 5 days off her due date now and looks like a beached whale, bless!! At first she barely showed at all but all of a sudden about 2 weeks ago she just looked huge...honest, it was like it had happened overnight!! Now she can barely sit or lie down!! They do have funny eating patterns during pregnancy, at some points they eat almost nothing and then at other points they eat you out of house and home!! Just keep watching her behaviour and eating pattern and make sure she is comfortable at all times and you will know soon enough!! Good Luck!!

Thanks for that, her behavour has been different she has quietened down quite alot and is very protective of myslf lately , and as for eating well I just keep trying all sorts of different things , the things she eats one day the next she turns her nose up .So maybe she is maybe she isnt , I just have to sit and wait :(

Y is admin telling me to read terms of the service ?
what am I doing wrong

If you mentioned the breed and the fact that she's pregnant could be seen as an advert for selling your pups.  Maybe that is why admin is telling you to read the terms of service!
