Hi All,
My bitch, Ella, has a lump on the back top rump of her. We thought it was an insect bite as it appeared about 6 weeks ago and with the weather being hot, thought it may be a bee or wast/insect sting. I took her to the vet about it 4 weeks ago and he said that it was probably an insect bite. He squeezed it and took the swelling down and then suggested I put an antihistamine cream on it. It hasn't gone down and has got a bit bigger. I have had several GSD's over the last 20 years and 3 of them have died of cancerous tumours! :( Obviously, I am concerned, she is nearly 7 yrs old and normally very healthly and as bright as a button. She has been spayed and I feed her on a mix of BARF and various other foods (not sweet or artificial) she also has recently had very dry skin, which is most unlike her, as shepherds normally have quite greasy skin/coat. I obviously want to do the best for her and improve her health as best I can.
I have since called my vet and he has said not to worry as "these things take time to go down". I am not convinced and would appreciate any advice from anybody who has experienced anything similar.
Thank you
Jo
