I know this subject has been discussed many times but does anyone have an opinion on this?
Do you think that insurance companies such as Pet Plan Ltd should be offering what is called I believe a retail package to pet shops to offer insurance to puppy purchasers? The reason why I ask is that as the vast majority of puppies sold from retail outlets originate from puppy farms and commercial breeders and more often than not when taken to the Vet within 24 hours, have a problem of one sort or another. Is this not one way that the retail outlet can try to conceal the fact that the puppies are often unhealthy when sold? Also is this not increasing the premiums for the general public when retail outlets offer insurance and puppy purchasers make claims to the insurance companies?

Speaking of pet insurance, i have just insured my bullmastiff pup with M&S pet insurance. Has anyone else had any dealings with them. Compared to other companies who i rang , i was given quotes of £25-£28 per month, M&S done it at half the price, and its life time cover. From what they have said to me it all seems good, i just hope that if there is a time that i need to make a claim, they are as good as they make out....Anyone else with M&S??

i got all 5 with m/s.no problem with them pay up with in a week of a claim

Oh good, im glad some on here have gone with M&S. It cost me £11 for my pup, and when they told me the price , i thought ...yeah, whats the catch, there so cheap, and they offered alittle more than everyone else. Thanx for the replies..
Carole

looking at the different price on here from m/s they do go bye the post code, plus my first dog is 13,80 then the other 4 are 9.70 which is the discount on a 2nd or more dogs.
i have not had any problem with them and i was one of the first to sign up with them with chase nearley 2 years ago

Hi my dog is in the 0-4 age group, then my postcode then I opted for £70 excess. £8.70 a month seems reasonable so far. Expect the pup to be less when I insure hr on 2d dog discount too :)

I insured my dogs with m&s, the first is £11.19 and the second is £10.12 with no excess.
So what is the catch with M & S? I just got a quote for my puppy (who is now 10 days old!) and it was £10.85. How come it's so cheap? Pet Plan (who has been recommended to me) is double the price with a £70 excess I think. I've also been advised to look at the Kennel Club's own.
I know Tesco isn't so good from my sisters experience, and I have one of my cats with Jardine Lloyd Thompson, and they're not very good - big excess and take ages to pay up, and didn't pay for dentistry when I read the small print and poor Nobby had to have 4 teeth out!
So in this minefield of insurance for pets, do you go for pet plan, expensive but you know it's good, or a cheaper option like M&S?
Very Confused!!! Can't do emoticons on here - don't know how to! :oS
Well, I sort of did an emoticon then but I wanted the confused one! :s

Also, I have had my Gonzo insured with More Than for a year now, ive never had to claim from them, as ive had no probs with him (Touch wood):)
Just interested in what people think of More Than.
:D

like i said in above post i been with m/s since they started they policys,18 months, there was a few teething problem in the beinning, but it a better poilicy,i got £60 excess with 2 at 13,40 3 at 9,70 total for £55.90 where p/p wanted £57 for 2 dogs ,i am paying less now for 5 dogs with a better cover than two years ago with p/p for 4 dog cost £76 .
like all m/s products you cannot go wrong i trust m/s back up policys than the other two well super markets,t and s

Im with M&S too - reasonable monthly payments and decent payouts (in the policy anyway) ;)
I was More Than happy with them UNTIL this year.......
When my older bitch (6yo Boxer) policy came up for renewal, then they have
doubled the premium for her.
So I am changing insurance companies as I feel £40 per month for 1 dog on the 'lower'
value policy is way too expensive...especially when I have 3 dogs to insure

I have my dog insured with More Than and can only sing their praises. I got 2 months free to start with and before we had paid them any money, we had to make a claim. I didn't think for a minute that they would pay as we hadn't really started paying them...but they did. Amazing company so far.
I was happy with More Than until they hiked their premium's this year.
That's why I am changing.
I guess everything is getting more expensive :(
