I am just about to sign up with a different dog club for Fagans obedience training as I feel the one we currently attend is very disorganised and he isnt learning much, we spend most of our time sitting around whilst the trainer attends to the more difficult dogs. I also find the trainer very patronising and condesending and the exercises they want Fagan to do in my eyes are pointless and stuff he could when he was 8 weeks old.  I have watched a class at the new club and it is far more organised and has about half the amount of dogs.  One thing I didnt ask about the new club is whether they do the KC good citizen awards, if they dont does anyone know if you can do them independently somewhere or whether you have to do it through the dog club ?

The Kennel Club should be able to give you a list of all the participating training classes in your area :)

the list they gave me only had the one on there which i am leaving  but I do find the KC's list arent all that great and they quite often miss classes out !!  I did read in one of the dog papers that a lady did her bronze at a show type thing in a local park which she just turned up to I was wondering if this was common ?

My two just passed theirs this weekend at a Companion Show!  So it's worth keeping an eye on your local Companion Show Schedules to see if any include CGC testing.

Hi you can usually do your bronze test at companion shows or some Championship shows SKC being one but you will find it difficult to go on to do your Silver and Gold tests if you arn't a member of a club that does them.  Hope you enjoy the training and do find somewhere to follow the KGC scheme through it is good fun aswell as good training. There is going to be bronze testing at the wag and bone show on Sat 14th August in Windsor.  Hoping to get my boys into it.
