Hi all,
I will be a dog owner in approx 7 and a 1/2 weeks time (our lab puppy was born on Saturday - very exciting!) and I'm quite keen on doing my bit when it comes to recycling, and disposing of things properly.
Does anyone know if it is particularly "green" to put dog poo in a nappy sack and then dispose of it in a special bin? Won't it all just sit in a landfill site taking forever to rot because it's in plastic? Is there a "green" alternative?
Also, I was thinking of getting one of those green bucket thingys that you put in your garden to deal with his poo's at home - does anyone use one of these and are they any good?
Any advice greatly received.
Regards,
Julia

Hi Julia - I think our local council incinerate the contents of the dog-poo bins (apart from the bags the local oiks have slung around

), so I wouldn't be concerned from that aspect, but I've never heard any favourable comments about the 'green' dog-loos. We used to have one - and it didn't work.
How bizarre Jeangenie - our oiks sling it around where I live too! It's quite strange; I've often wondered if it's kids taking it out of the bins and chucking it all over the path and in the trees or foxes?
Thanks for the info re the green thingys. Probably won't bother, coz don't trust the kids to kepp away from it!
Regards,
Julia

I just scoop it up and flush it down the toilet :)

Never met anyone who has found the Green thingy to be of any use, have tried it myself and found very quickly that you need to live on very very quick draining soil to stand any chance of not being ankle deep in dog doo sludge within the week. And they are not very green either as you need to use chemical.
I always thought that you weren't meant to flush doggy poos down the toilet but can't understand why, anyone any ideas?(personally can't imagine carry it through the house, could teach the dogs to sit on the loo instead though!!!)

There are more diseases infectious to humans from human poo than from dog poo. Dog poo poses less threat to human health down the lavatory than human poo ...
