Hi all,,, is it possible for a bitch to be off her food so soon after mating (1 week) She won't eat her normal food, just fresh mince mixed in with the smallest ammount of complete food. Also tried tinned dog meat but she won't touch it???

I would really appreciate some advice here, i cant get her to eat much at all...Could it be that she is pregnant????

Just looking back over my notes of my girls pregnancy, she stopped eating at 11 days and didn't eat properly again until after the pups were born.  Just the occassional sausage or pasta.............oh and fairy cakes :-)

surely that cant be enough for a pregnant bitch??? she even covered her food up with a bag thismorning,, but did eat the fresh mince i gave her but that isnt enough for her size...

let her do what she wants at this time , she will not starve herself i promise my girl was mated 4 weeks ago i don't know yet if she is in whelp but she also went off her food for a bit she now has a very healthy appitite it will settle down :)

Hi, I am a breeding my bitch for the 1st time , If she is in welp then she will be 24 days, She is completely off her food and I keep feeding her the odd sausage and tip bits to tempt her.When will I know for sure if she is in welp.I have read books on breeding but doesnt how much I read I dont think i'll understand and get all the answer I want. If she is in welp does anyone know how many pups yorkies have??
Hope people dont judge me as Im not a qualified breeder but any advice would be welcome

yes it could be a very good sign that she is pregnant. my stafie bitch went off her food a couple of weeks after mating but then her appetite returned in the couple of weeks prior to having her pups. we doubled her food intake and split it into several feeds and we had to tempt her a bit more with meat mixed in with her usual food.

I'm going through the same thing. My bitch is 25 days from the first breeding and on day 22 decided not to eat much since then. She has no fat on her so I don't want her to lose weight. Nipples are swollen but no obvious weight gain. This is my first pregnancy with this breed. It is a toy breed.  Hope it tooK!
