We are still getting to grips with trying to choose names to register the puppies by as this is a first litter and I don't have an affix.  Yesterday whilst at the CLA Game Fair I walked past the Kennel Club tent and thought I would go in and chat to them.  There was a lady with KC Badge just leaving for a teabreak and one left behind at the desk.  I explained my situation to her (no affix, pups, how best to choose names).  She clearly told me that I wouldn't be able to register my pups without an affix and promptly gave me the affix registration form.  I explained that my bitch had ancestors in her pedigree that didn't have an affix and she then said pups couldn't be registered without one!

I was totally exasperated as she didn't seem to know what she was talking about!  Isn't it frustrating when they put people like that in charge of giving out information?

PS Does anyone have a Kennel Club telephone number that doesn't start 0870 (can't use free minutes with that one)!

Kennel club have just changed there rules and it would be nice if the staff was up on the terms etc. :-)
You do not need an affix to register pups, however if you decided to have the kennel club name your pups for you, an affix will be applied to all your puppies for a charge ( I think this year it is Kenmilfore, 2004) A charge is being applied to this service as of Jan 2004. Those who choose there own names will not be charged regardless whether they have an affix or not.. only the normal reg fees.
