Hello
I'm new to this forum. I found it after worrying about my pup,and his bum shuffling.
Ive got a 14 week old Bichon male pup, who has shuffled occasionaly, but as i had wormed him i assumed it was as he wanted to go to the toilet, But the last two days he has done it more regularly, and friday night had trouble pooing, and i had to take most of it from his bottom, and wash him. he was fine saturday, but this morning woke up and had the same problem shuffling a lot and almost getting distressed. I washed him again and this seems to calm him down but he has been very clingly and wanting to sit on or next to me the whole time. After speaking to vets helpline who said it was probably worms i came on the internet and found this site (which has been great).
Looking at past posts it sounds as if he may have full anal glads? is this dangerous? we are booked in to the vets on tuesday for his second vaccination, will it be okay to wait or should i take him to the vet tomorrow. He is eating and drinking well, and seems happier although still quiet after his bath?
Any advice will be appreciated
thanks
Evelyn
P.S If there are any Bichon owners it would be great to chat
Hi Evelyn
We have a 6 month old Bichon called Barney. He goes to the groomers every 6 weeks and gets a trim, nails cut, anal glands cleaned and ears cleaned. I have taken him from about 16 weeks old. The first time was just a tidy up to get him used to the whole grooming process and so he didn't get stressed out when he is older. How's your pup doing. They are very loving dogs with a lovely nature.
Keep in touch
