Hi
My bitch is 64 days from her first mating or 62 days from second mating. She has been panting on and off since 1 o`clock this morning. She isn` t straining or anything and seems ok in herself. She has lost a small amount of mucus. How long can I leave her panting. She has not eaten anything since yesterday but is drinking plenty.

My girls have panted for 18 - 24 hours before their proper contractions started, keep a close eye on her, but it shouldn't be much longer now.
Good Luck!

How long can I leave her like this before there is cause for concern. She seems ok and she has just ate some tuna.

That's a bit surprizing that she would eat if she's in labor. Mine won't eat at all for 24 hours prior no matter how tempting I make it. Do you have an update on her? Looks like this was posted earlier today.

Some of mine will eat in Labour even up to half hour before producing a pup, some will not, so I dont think you can rely on this. I always offer my bitchews Puppy milk and Glucose water throughout labour to keep their strength up.
did you take her temperature? i don't rely on any one thing but sometimes all information put together can help. If you have been taking her temperature has it dropped? If not I would still take it to see how low it is.

Her temp has dropped. She is still panting but no straining. She is wanting to go outside and dig the bushes in the garden she seems happier out there. She has also just lost some stringy mucus alot thicker then the discharge she has been losing. She doesn`t seem to want to stay in her whelping box.I am goig to phone vet shortly for some advise. This labour is so different to last time.

All 5 pups are doing great and mum is doing a wonderful job of taking care of them all.Her last litter we had to force her to go out to go to the toilet but this time she is fine but as soon as we get near to the house she is racing back. One pup seemed alittle weaker then the rest but she seems to be doing well now. Thanks for everyones help it was much appreciated.
