Hi all
Well I have been getting really confused with this feeding lark.
Desi now weighs 5.7kg and I have not been sure how much of the complete food I should be giving her. She is having 3 meals a day at the moment and they are all soaked.
When I took her to the vet yesterday the vet nurse told me to give her approximately 275g I asked her if this was per meal and she told me it was.
Today I phoned Eukanuba to check this as it seemed like an awful lot and they told me that it is 275g for the whole day ie approx 85/90 each feed.
Oh no though I have given Desi 275g this morning so what do I do now do I miss out her lunch and dinner or continue the feeds as normal.
helpppppppppppppppppppp

You mention in a previous post that your puppy has been suffering a little with indigestion and bowel problems so I would probably contact the veterinary nurse (even though she mis-informed you first time around!) and ask advice.  Your puppy may well be rather uncomfortable after all that food so if she has been to the toilet healthily since then perhaps boil a little chicken and rice?  It's been a long time since I had a puppy I'm afraid but I hope someone comes along soon with a little more experienced advice.  Personally, I would really avoid feeding her what would have been remaining amounts.
Hope everything is ok.  (If only dogs would only eat what they need and not EVERYTHING that is put in  front of them!) Good luck.

Thanks Maudlily
That is nice advice.  I have not fed her anything since but may give her a little something a little bit later on.  I don't think I will ask that veterinary nurse anything again although I have a feeling she was a trainee but still she should have checked if she wasn't sure.
Best wishes

Also can I ask up until what age should a dogs food be soaked.  I have been advised to soak food up to 3 hours before feeding to my lab but surely is that always going to be the case?

I stop soaking feed at around six weeks so that pups are on puppy complete when they leave (on my vets and breeders' advice). I also make life easier by free feeding ie I leave food down all day so that pups can eat their fill. I know some folk don't approve of free feeding but it's always worked for me. I keep an eye on the pups (and the older dogs weight) by weighing them and their general condition. Hope this helps :) ;)
