Has anyone else had Pet passport vaccinations etc recently?  Took Jennifer yesterday fro her first "shot" and was surprised to find that the documentation has changed.  I vaguely remember reading about a new Euro wide pet passport, but thought I then read it was being delayed due to admin problems.  However, it seems the new passport is in place, you get an ACTUAL pet passport (can even put the dogs photo in) so you arent having to keep getting new documentation etc.  The rest of the scheme seems identical, although my vet did warn me that Frances regulations are a bit different, and where twice yearly boosters are OK here, France requires yearly.

Well I had two of mine redone for Pet Passports, and the pup is half way through hers, and was waiting for new docs to be brought in before getting it completed.

wonder if I will now have to pay yet again to get new up to date ones for the other two, as I have only ever travelled the once with them in 2002.  Of course you daren't let th3eir passports lapse.

There was an article in Dog World which states that by the end of this year the old ones will stop being used but that they are still in effect for the time being.  I think that it just depends on which one the people use at the moment.  I wouldn't know as my boys being brought in so I haven't dealt with the documentation !!!

I rang DEFRA about this as am about to bring our new girl in from Italy. Apparently the new documentation is valid across Europe from July 3rd and is preferable to the old since it is acceptable in France etc. But the old documentation will still be valid to get into the UK until the end of September. So we are in the crossover period now.

But for new cases they recommend the Euro wide new passport.

Well, come February Jennifer will be fully passported and ready to go!  Complete with her photo in the passport.  We are going back for a 2nd rabies shot in 2 weeks, just in case the titre level is not high enough with just one.  This is a valuably learned lesson from a dog I am helping bring in from the USA - he failed his titre test by just 1 scale point, so we had to go back to the begining of the waiting period.

We have been given a provisional date of 24th October for our girl coming in from America, Barbie will be 10 month then could you tel me if it is the six month between titre levels taken from when the blood is taken or from when you get you results, we have had her results back for the titre and they are fine

My boy is over in the states and can come back any time after 27th October depending on how he does in the ring ----- well when he decides he actually needs a coat again that is. I did his test etc before he left and now have his passport once we got the titre test results, just wondering if this old version will still be ok after the new passport deadline or not?

Got definate confirmation 2nd week in december just after LKA, so no chance of Cruft qualification.Still cannot wait. Have just looked at the dogs and pedigree's for the end of year breeder plan and guess what, another will be on the way over hopefully next year. I should be better next time

Hi, can anyone tell me whether it is OK to take dog food over to the country you are visiting. I am a bit worried that this isn't allowed and I can't get his normal food where I am going.

I would think that it would be best to check with DEFRA, just to be safe
