I have a 9mth SBT Dog, he is very good with me, but as soon as my boyfriend comes in the room he more less starts growling and barking and jumping up and nipping his knees! he does this and wags his tail at the same time. It seems like he thinks its a game, it just that hes starting to do this all the time now. Eventually he does stop and then sleeps on the sofa with my boyfriend for a while. Is he trying to find the leader in the pack?
Thanks.
Hi guest
my sbt used to do that with my hubby, that was because he was the one that really 'played' with her (rough but nice play) so she associated him with playtime where as with me it was gentle play and cuddles :D
She has now grown out of that, but still does play 'harder' with him than me.

i agree, it sounds like typical staffy playtime, our youngest bitch Tara jumps up and gets very excited when we have popped out to the shops or something, and we come back in, her favorite trick is to jump up and try and headbutt you as you are bending down! its best nipped in the bud, try to encourage a game with a toy instead, that way they can shake/rag/tug the toy and not your boyfriends legs! we expect tara will grow out of it quite soon, russett was the same when he was a pup, now content to lie in front of the fire or steal your chair when your not looking! :-)
