hiya all,i am probably going to get shoot down for this but here goes!
i own 2 sbt's 1 dog aged 38 months and a bitch who is 39 months old, she had her first season aged 8 months and has had regular seasons but at 4 month intervals!
in september 2003 i decided to breed from her(she was 28 months old and it was her 6th season) she whelped in november(6 puppies) everything went fine, her heath seemed to get beck on track very quickly.
the puppies left us on the 18th january 2004. on the 23rd january2004 i noticed that she was showing the signs of being in season swollen vulva, bleeding, and within 10 days the dog was trying to mount her. i locked him away to be safe.
on the 28th may this year we were going on holiday, for two weeks.a few days before we went i again noticed that my bitch was again in season, my neighbour was looking after my dogs who in fact own 5 dogs of his own! so one would think that he knows what he is doing.
anyway we went on holiday with the instruction that under no curcumstances was my dog+bitch to socialise in any way!
we came back off holiday and everything seemed fine, the husband told me that my dog and bitch didn't even see eachother, HOWEVER last night 23-7-04 i learnt that his wife came round to feed my dogs and the dog got into my bitches kennel. and she thinks that he done the deed!
after asking on what day that was she told me MONDAY JUNE 7TH, after she started to put on weight for in my mind no reason, obviously putting two+two together she showing the signs of being pregnant.enlarged teats , loosing white discharge etc
I AM ABSOLUTELY DEVISTATED to say the least.this means that she could be 48 days into pregnancy!
i love my dogs to bits and worship the ground that they walk on , and i would never have dreamt to breed her, but what do i do now? looks like i am going to be stuck with a litter of puppies.
yours broken hearted

As far as advice I'm not really sure what to tell you, except you'll just have to go through and let her have her puppies and try and find good homes for them. Once you find out for sure she's pregnant you might get the word out that puppies are on the way and maybe you'll get a waiting list started for them.
would i be able to still kc them

All you can do is explain to the KC what has happened and ask if they will allow registration, it will then be up to them but I do doubt it. Still you can show prospective puppy people the registration and health cert's. of the dam & sire.
It may be one of the problems of using a dog from home on your bitch, he had done it once and I guess he saw no reason not to repeat the exercise, mind you any dog who can, will, if given the opportunity. You will have to look to your kennel arrangements and move the bitch or dog away when she is in season.

Jacke H the KC changed this policy, and the rule about a 12 month between litters only now applies to those breeders required to be licensed under the Breeding and Sale of dogs Welfare Act.
I think they ran into difficulties enfocing the rule, as in law only Licensed breeders were required to have the 12 month gap. Also I suspect they were inundated wityh exemption requests. This happened about 18 months ago I think.

I sent the KC an e-mail regarding number of litters from the same bitch in 12 months and they told me that only one would be registered unless there were exceptional circumstances with an accompanying letter from my vet, this was in May 2004, but maybe it's changed since

Until my computer went poof earlier this year I had saved the KC announcement. Unless they were assuming you to be a Licensed breeder there is no difficulty registering a 2nd litter within 12 months, though they do advise that it should not be the norm. I do Know of several people who have had littrs within 12 months registered.
yes mark you will still be able to kc them, all the best, angie
sorry forgot to mention,a couple of years ago my bitch had one puppy by cesarian,i was told by a very good breeder to mate her again on the next season as one was neither here nor there,i did this and she had five puppies,i was able to kc them all and my girl was fine, good luck, angie
thankyou very much for all your advice!
although this incident was completely out of my control, i am completely responsible for my dogs!
i do feel at ease knowing that i should be able to kc register the puppy/ies for the simple reason that having the puppies kc regitered is the only licence that i would have to dictate where and to whom the puppies go to! that is after stringent/thorough vetting of homes/people.
kind regards everyone

Ok, I stand corrected, I've just received this from the Kennel Club:-
Thank you for your message. The KC will register 2 litters from a bitch in a
twelve month period. However if you are a licensed breeder, it is illegal to
breed a bitch this often.
So 2 litters in 12 months is fine!
