does anyone know or used genetic finger printing to determine the sire of their pups?. first dog bitch went to ,to be mated was,nt interested as much as he should have been the bicth was at her rigt time havin been tested 3 times to make sure she wwwas ovulating [maiden bitch]myself and the stud dog owner  who has been breeding for 39 years said she thought it unlikley that anything had happened .so i went to a different dog and they tied for 20 mins where as other dog never got in and onlly mounted bitch for about 6 secs ,but stll i have that nagging doubt of DID HE MANAGE TO put any sperm in also the 2 dogs are half brothers although not alike. So does anyone know if there are puppies later and i look at them and i,m still douhtful  about who the sire is what i do to find out??? it says inTHE BOOK OF THE BITCH it,s easy to do now.Thing is don,t want to appear thick but can their be half and half?

All the pups in the litter would need to be tested as some could be sired by one dog some the other.  I beleive cheek swabs are taken for each indidicual including both the two males and your bitch.  Contact the Animal Health Trust, google search should bring up their website.  This should be done before registering any litter.

Funnily enough I read last year that some people were deliberately mating their bitch to more than one male hoping for a dual conception litter, this was in mthe USA.

If you are from the uk, the Kennel Club states, if a bitch is served by more than one dog of the same breed as herself in the same heat, the identity of the correct sire of each puppy in the litter MUST be established via DNA testing in order to register the resulting progeny. If you visit the link below, you will find the request form for a DNA testing kit (the cost for each kit is £15) A test for both the sire and the dam must be completed, then one for each puppy.

Hope this is helpful
