I have had the same problem with the spray and my puppy i put in on and a week later there was a flea as happy and alive as could be so we rang up vets and they said that it will kill any on them after 24hrs of contact then another 2 days later the pup still has a live flea. I think i plan on writing to Frontline themselves

I find if the spray dont kill them then I 'it 'em on the 'ed with the bottle! They never come back again!
The thing about fleas is you never know if the flea you see today is the same flea you saw yesterday. During the summer there are always plenty around so the dogs can pick one up at any time. I find Frontline to be one of the most reliable flea sprays.
Regards, John

Did you flea-treat the pup's bedding (and the rest of the house) at the same time? It could well be a 'new' flea that has recently hatched since you Frontlined her.
i didn't do the house as i regularly use frontline on her with no gaps. has anyone used the new frontline that does the house too ? is that any good ?

Sarah, I'm not sure if it's called frontline but we do use a house flea spray which we get from the vets and is very powerful. I use frontline on the dogs and also found a flea on Willow the other day, although it was slow moving and easy to catch, so I assume the frontline does still work after a number of weeks. It is slightly worrying for my older dog, though, who soon seems to get an allergy to flea bites.
Whilst we're on the subject of fleas, does anyone give their dogs garlic, and if so, does it really help, and what amounts do you give?

I feed my dogs a freshly pressed garlic clove every day; I have sprayed them once in 3 years; I do, however spray the house with Acclaim.
I have not found any fleas on them.

I have a bitch who has alegy to fleas, and since using the Frontline SPRAY for the last 8 years or so every 3 months have had no more problems, and no fleas.
the spot on is simpler to use but doesn't last as long, and of course is more concentrated as it is in a few drops, so I always wory about a reaction to it. The spray is more dilute, but you use more of it all over the dog.
I use garlic on the dogs and horses (keeps the flies away!), i buy the powdered form and sprinkle it on their food - doesn't seem to worry them! I also use frontline though! No fleas in our house :) :)

You have to break the life cycle or flea's will return to your pet whether frontlined or not. The flea has to land on/bite the dog before the frontline treatment will take effect. It may kill adult fleas within 24 hours but you need a household spray to kill larvae and pupae which can stay dormant for a very long time! Treat obvious area's of the house such as bedding, behind radiators etc AND treat the dog with Frontline - which should do the trick - especially this time of year! If you only treat the dog, as the frontline fades the next generation of flea's are ready to pounce!!
