My dog was due to be boarded while I am away, but the person cannot do it now.  We are due to go away on 31st July 2004 for 2 weeks, I have contacted a few people but as of today I do not have anyone to look after my dog.  I didn't want to put him into kennels, he was staying with a lady in her house.  I live in the South East Area (Greater London).  I have some numbers to ring today and hopefully I will get something sorted.  Any ideas?

I can't help but I'd be interested to know how you get on as I am sort of in that area and would be interested in who you eventually use and what you think.  I have a few relatives on stand-by for when I go on holiday, but you never know and it would help to have a back-up plan.

There are often adverts in the News Shopper on Wednesdays but I don't know if you would try someone out of the paper.  I am tempted to volunteer myself but my OH would probably have a heart attack!  Good luck (and I'll speak to him just on the off-chance ;-) )

Hello thank you for your reply.  Yesterday I was on the phone the majority of the day, our last resort would have been my mother-in-law come to stay at our house, but really that wouldn't be ideal, everywhere was full.  Eventually I rang a company called Woof-Petsitters and they were very helpful, the lady Anne gave me people in my area to call.  I left messages when people were out etc.  Most people were really busy and couldn't fit him in.  Then one of the Woof-Petsitters ladies called me back and she can have my boy.  I am taking him over this evening to meet her.  She sounds very nice.  My boy will be in her house.  I will let you know how we get on and if she is good then I will book him in with her next time.  Apparently you have to fill out and sign a form to give her permission to take him to the vet, and obviously that you will pay the costs - she will take him to my own vet (if needed).  You also have to give a deposit to secure your booking, which I didn't have to do before.  She is in the Locksbottom area, the other 3 numbers were around Orpington area and also I had a number for New Addington.

I have just been on the website of the company I found for my dog - they are www.woof-petsitters.co.uk, the lady that runs it is Annie and if she cannot board the dog she has members names who she can recommend in the area.  The name of the lady I am going to is Julie.  I will let you know how it goes though.

Thanks, I look forward to hearing about it!  Have a good holiday!
