I am at my whits end!  I have a 8 month old Chow Chow and i just cant control her no matter how much i shout at her or say leave. To start with she keeps taking the tv remote control out in the garden and chews it up. My cushions disappear also in the garden if i dont see her come in the room. Everything she see's she takes i just cant do anything to stop her doing it.  She had loads of toys to play with.  My Garden looks like a golf course so many hole's in it.  I have had about 3 chows over the years but never one as naughty as her!  Just wondered if anyone has any tips that would help me.

Sorry to hear you are at your wits end. Has it dawned on you she may be bored? How about finding her things to keep her ocupied like a sandpit filled with her "toys" buried in there? A kong filled with something that will take a while to get out? Hide something of hers she loves and let her search for it? Play hide and seek. Make life interesting for her, and she'll soon stop chewing your things. And for starters I think I would limit her access to the garden with your things by either closing doors to rooms where she "takes" things from and/or making her own things more interesting.

But 8 months is the "teenage" months so good luck and see you the other side. :)

First of all your dog is not being 'naughty' she is just playing with what she considers her toys.

You can easily prevent her from doing many of the things you do not like my managing the environment; just as you would with a small child; by putting valuable/fragile/dangerous things out of her reach.

She sounds as though she want to play; very few toys are designed to be played with alone; they require interaction.  Perhaps if you spent several short sessions of play with her during the day, this would tire her mentally ie by hiding food, stuffing a kong, giving her a cardbox box to play with etc etc.

Hmm i think one chow is enough lol   As i have  3 poms as well, old ladies now though.  Hehe a bit like me.  Yogi would love to play with them but she is a little rough with them as you can imagine.  We keep trying them together but its not working out so we have to keep them apart.  It don't help when she keeps sitting on them lol
