Amy is going to be a year on August 1st. I want to have a wee party for her with a birthday cake. Any ideas for the cake. Has anyone got any special memories of their dogs birthday they would like to share.

Tesco's and Asda for themed birthday cakes at a good price, Pooh bear, Telly tubby's most young childrens thing, they are sponge cake with the different iceing.May be worth a look if you do not want to make your own. My sons first one was a womble cake, we still have the pictures and he is 34 now

Hi britney1000,

Amy is Jeans dog :) ..though no doubt she'd chomp through a kiddy cake anyway :D  I used to love creating cakes for my sons on their birthdays.

Jean, I don't know when Bess's exact birthdate is, only that it's sometime this month (though everyday is like a birthday for her. :D ) so no doggy birthday party memories to share :(

I've never made a doggy cake but how about raw mince and cooked rice, bound together with an egg then either feed it raw or bake it. I can't say how it will turn out but I'm sure it will be tasty. :D

Happy birthday Amy, hope you have a lovely day. :)

I came home on one of our dogs' birthday's one year and David had made a birthday cake by squishing dog food into a plastic container, then turning it out on a plate.  It was 'iced' with sandwich tongue and decorated with gravy bones.

Far too much time on his hands obviously!! ;) :D

Puglet and Junior both have a a birthday party each year.  My nephew is usually in charge of the cakes (he is 8) and we usually end up with an Asda or Marks and Spencers one, the dogs love it, but can obviously only have alittle bit each!  This year instead of a cake I did puglet a big plate full of fiary cakes, each iced in different pastel coloures, and each with a letter on tope, spelling out "Happy Birthday Puglet 3 Today"  it looked so pretty!  Have also dont doggy cakes in the past using a hamburger/meatloaf type mix (Mince, wholemeal bread crumbs, little chopped garlic and carrot, mixed with eggs, then baked in a loose bottom sandwich cake tin.  Drained off the fat, cooled, then decorated the top with cream cheese.
bye

Hi Jean, Barney's first birthday is 11 Aug.  I am also looking for ideas.  I was just going to make him liver cake and decorate it, but I am sure what to decorate it with.  Hmmmm, I've just realised you might be having family/friends round for her party, not just doggie friends - better not make liver cake then

Thanks for the ideas. Jax we need to be a bit more exciting than liver cake. I like the sound of the mince rice and egg Jax maybe if there is a bit left i could give it to Jim for his tea What do you think ?  lol  :-D

I might also try the mince, rice and egg for Barney, let me know how you get on.  And I'm sure if you serve it with peas/beans and some chips it will go down a treat with Jim  ;)
