My 8 month old Cairn is going through his spotty teenage phase. His training seems to have all gone out of the window especially recall in the house and garden. He just completely ignores us.
He peed in the kitchen tonight too, for the first time in months and after he had just come in from the garden.
We are just waiting for him to come home with a punk hairdo and rings through his nose next. Help!!!!!!!!
Andi

Hi Everone ,WHEN apoprox does the "Kevin" stage finish?THANKS Sue xx

Depends on the size/breed of the dog I think Sue ..the larger the breed, usually the later they mature :) Hudson started getting *Keviny* at about 11 months about we saw the light at the end of the tunnel at about 18 months ;)

Big Bad Bethany's Kevinett phase finished at 13 years 11 month and believe me, I was sorry! I wished for the first six years of her life that she would grow up and prayed for the rest of her life that she would not. My second wish came true.
Best wishes, John

John ....I have been reliably informed by a Mally breeder that Malamutes *grow up* at aged 7

Well Mel, as Mandy was adult at 9 weeks old I suppose BBB was allowed to take her time. She was the worst of mine. Anna loves to play until she starts to work then shes focused.
Best wishes, John
I got Leo at 5 months old from his breeder and he has been great for the last 3 months, excellent at recalls, housetraining and general commands
Reading this post this morning, I was thinking how lucky I was as Daisy (now aged two) had never had a Kevin stage amd Leo was following her good example. Famous last words - I have just come back from a walk where they have joined in a football game, rolled in a dead bird and refused to come back when I wanted to come home. Daisy was the ringleader, and normally she is an angel.....but I am hoping today was just a one off . Otherwise, its else off to the shops for another extending lead and an even more important trip to the off-licence!
They are both now sulking after I put them in the shower. Nothing looks worse than a soggy Schnauzer, and they both know it

What a relief to read your posts everyone. I really thought that perhaps I was doing something wrong. Hamish loves rolling in dead birds too!! Now, let me think, is that before or after he's eaten his own poo (ooo yummy)and gone berserk at a passing motor cyclist. Don't you just love the little darlings........

Hi Everyone ,yes we just have to love them its either that or go mad ,i dont know if it IS a kevin stage ,coincidence

or just a very strong willed pooch the funniest bit of it all is when anyone DARES to come within 100 yards of HER property she barks at first like a crazy dog ,then mutters under her breath ,& she just goes on & on & on ,its like she has to have the last word & if i "pop" out & dont take her (she loves the car !) she will find something to chew & then leaves it in the EXACT spot each time as if to say "leave me & this is what to expect !! in most other ways she is quite submissive with me ....i think ! or is she just lulling me into a false sense of security ? take care all Sue xx

'when anyone DARES to come within 100 yards of HER property'
Hamish is exactly the same, he puffs his chest out, his tail goes up like a flag pole and he struts around barking and muttering with a real 'Leeettt meeee atttt emmmmm' attitude and then he'll run over to the pond and pull the weed out(?) (It's ok all you fish lovers there aren't any fish in it) He's eaten them all!!!
No not really, sorry I couldn't resist that.........

Hi Andi ,sounds like Lola & Hamish could be related !! i keep being told "THATS what you get when you THINK you can handle a TERRIER !!,she is a westie x Lhasa Apso & the first terrier i have had & she is definatly in a class of her own,she is definatly the most affectionate dog i have had ,but sooooo , bossy,i have to say though that my two daughters were (& still are) far less trouble than this bundle of dynamite,.......its just "that mumbling" its sooooo Kevin, its all about having the last word !(wonder where she gets that from !......bless her little paddy paws!(i am going now ..i am starting to talk puppy talk ,even she covers her ears with her paws when i get going :D)take care Susie & Lola (AKA slut puppy .....dont ask
