Hi Everyone, I would like to sell up and retire to Spain in a few years time but have read on various websites about certain Dogs not allowed into certain countries, the Staffie being one of the Dogs listed.
To Christine, Do you known if this is true? One of my Dogs is a Staffie cross but seemingly their banned as well. Thanking you in advance. regards Deirdre

Try here
bslIt details BSL in Spain
A while ago I put a link on ch/dogs to the actual bill which states what dogs aren`t permitted here, I can`t find it on my pc but maybe do a search on here for it or maybe one of the others knows the thread I put it on? It was about someone else worried about their d/de/b? not being allowed in. Sorry to say I think the staffies on the list.

Hello
I have Staffies and Dogue de Bordeaux, both on the dangerous dog list in Spain :-(
We moved to Spain 2 months ago with our dogs. All that is required is that you put your dogs and your details on the register with the local town hall. We went to do this but our Town has NO dangerous dog list and where we live near Valencia there are lots of dogs that are named on the list but because our town has no register we cannot register them. Suppose it is because there has been no problems so the list not needed
Hello Again, Thanks for your quick replies,
To Lel, The link you gave me unfortunately confirmed what I thought and I couldn't afford 120,000euros (nearly £80,000) for insurance, I only wanted to buy a property at about £70,000.
To Christine, Thank You, I will do a search for your post now.
To Staffie, Maybe I should consider moving to your area as you've had no problems. How old is your Staffie and do you have to muzzle him when out walking? Would it be possible for me to e-mail you as I'd like to ask you a few more questions re:moving to Spain. It's been my dream for so long, I've just been waiting till I get my Pension.
I'm actually a bit confused now as you've moved with no problems. regards Deirdre

Hi Deirdre
I have sent you an email.
I`ve already done a search but can`t find it!! Maybe you`ll have better luck. Things are never so quite cut & dried/black & white in Spain if you see what I mean ;) :D

Hi Christine
Tell me about it in Spain ;-)
We paniced like crazy to meet all these requirements, when we got here no list and when we questioned it at the town hall, pet shops etc it was "no pasanada"
We are loving it here and the dogs have settled really well. They have their excaliber collars and have been frontlined and X-spotted!!! :D
I supposed in the more highly populated busy towns they are a bit stricter with the administration of legislation and probably the list is in force but here no problem. I am just careful to keep them on the lead whrn out.
Infact we were going out in our car at the weekend and there were 2 GSDs fighting. One owner an old Spanish man the other a teenager. They were trying to PULL the dogs apart. We jumped out the car and my hubby quicklly did the old "up the bum" reaction but to no avail so he did boot the larger more aggressive dog as it was tearing the face of the older dog :-( It broke the fight up and the large dog turned to my hubby who very quickly jumped out of the way. I tried to tell the teenager to have his dog muzzled in my best Spanglish ;-) The old bloke was in shock as was his poor old dog. I got the lad from the local shop to go and see if he was ok. Saw him walking his dog the next day all stitched up :-( but at least ok.
Hi Staff, yep it`s very much a live & let live country :D It`s like rules what rules????as long as you you behave yourself, animals likewise of course, then people tend to let you get on with things.
Glad you`re enjoying yourselves & the move went ok, how you all coping with the heat????
