Hi Lel ive read the post on the other board but for some reason i cant post a reply. Yep he is american. so just get ready to stand your dog sideways as well as head on. At the east mids open we had an american and we stood face on first then he asked us to stand with the side ways view. it was weird to start with but  magic got best puppy bitch in show so i wouldnt have minded if he had made us do head stands :)

i've shown under this judge before. (in america)
the thing with him is that he likes you to dress smartly or he won't consider your dog, a shirt and tie job it was in america, i did'nt wear one and he threw me out with proberbly the best dog in the class, when i asked later why? he just said that i was not dressed appropriately.
i've not even given this guy an entry.

I always thought it was the dog that was being judged and on show, yes  dressing to complement your dog is all very nice, but if you don't your dog should not be penalised!!  Mind ytou I don't think that Elkhound Exhibitors are renowned for their hout couture dress, doesn't go with the hair (that the dogs loose that is) :D

You are quite right that it is the dog being judged but I do feel you have to take account of your dog's colour etc.  It is extremely hard to see the outline of a small black dog against black trousers or a long black skirt and the dogs really do not appear at their best when handicapped like this.  Likewise a dog will not move as well as it can do if a skirt of the wrong length or wide flapping trousers are hitting it in the face.
