Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Question about labor??

My bitch lost her plug last night and started panting , breathing heavy and nesting around 1pm today. Her temp has been between 98.6 - 99.7 this past week. I took her temp when she started panting this morning and it dropped to 97. With my other bitches it only took them about 2-3 hours to start having pups after panting heavy. How long could she go before she starts having her pups? Thanks

Every bitch is different but my bitches started to deliver within 10 -24 hours of the panting stage.

My bitch panted heavily for a good 18 hours before she produced her first pup!   When is she due?

I have on average had my bitches go 12 hours from panting heavily, but have had one produce withih half an hour of being restless, and taking 24 hours and whelping normally (did have one that needed a C section after stop starting this for 2 whole days).

Shes due on monday. I figured she would go early cause she is SOOOOO huge. Shes been panting heavy on and off since 1 and has been very uncomfortable all day. She will lay on the floor then go in her box to lay down then get out and go to another spot in the room. Is there a certian amount of time i should wait before i start to worry? Like i said all my bitches usually start panting then have their pups 2-3 hours later. This waiting thing is new for me......heheh.

Hi my bitch started panting 4pm on a thursday nite and did not give birth till 7.30am friday morning so like everyone says all bitches are different just keep a close eye on her you know your girls better than anyone so you should be able to pick up on anything that does not seem right.

Keep us posted

My girl started panting on the wednesday afternoon and my husband said I was getting paranoid.  She broke her waters all over my sofa the following morning at 6am and gave birth after getting dragged to the whelping box 10 minutes later!!!!
