i have a 5 month old dog pup and well his mother and my other bitch has just came in to season (his mother last week and the other bitch this week)
well he has not looked at his mother any diffrent at all but the other bitch he is just all over her and he is evan trying his LUCK (but she does look at him with the "what the Hell are you doing" look on her face)
they are not left alone together and sleep in difrent rooms. the only time they are together now is if im in the room(start now so he will know wot it will be like every time one is in season)
Well thats all i want to know is could he (you know)?? as he is only 5 months
the bitch he is after is also going to be mated (when she is ready).

Most certainly! This isn't an ideal situation that needs very careful handling. Many people don't keep dogs and bitches together because they don't want the regular extra precautions that are necessary to prevent unwanted pregnancy.

Don't doubt that he could have a go, but would he be able to get her pregnant at only 5 months of age? What about sexual maturity? Personally would never risk it, complete nightmare to have entire dogs of both sexes in the house, they can be very "sly" and it only takes a second, and then theres nothing that you can do!

dont worry about unwanted pregnancy i grew up with an entire dog and bitch and do know how to keep them apart, i have had dogs on their own and bitches on their own but this is the first time i have had both together (since moving out of my Mothers houes).

quit surprised to find out at 5 months what they can get up to through (i know they could by the time they were 8-9 months) :D
how old are they when they are sexual maturity then?

i know that you can not breed a bitch under 1 and have KC reg puppies, is there not a age limit for dog pups to?

Age of maturity? Depends on the breed and the individual. JH

There is no rule about a dogs age re breeding, but I would think that most people wouldn't deliberately use a male under 1 year old deliberately, as for one thing they can't be hip scored until a year, and most of the non congenital eye probs are not done until then either. I know with Stffs that they only need one test for PHPV which can be done as a puppy.

Don't know about heart or other testing, but I think most breeders wouldn't use a male until over a year old, even then he is not fully mature so his potential development hasn't been realised (or not!).
