Hi,

Currently looking into Newfoundland show  breeders and websites.Other than the breeders mentioned on champdogs finding it difficult to track down those with websites.
I've looked at Cayuga
                   Evanpark
                   Sheridel
but would like to see Swanpool,Sigroc,Merrybear and Karazan does anyone know whether these have websites grateful for any assistance.

Sorry I can't point you to any web sites, the only breeders I know personally are Sheridel and would be happy to recommend, but would still advice personnel visits because as well as liking the sort of dogs bred it is best that you feel you trust and rely on the breeders you choose.

PS there are far more than those you haved named and I would suggest you ask the Breed Club and then take a look at some shows or water events.

Hi,

I was just interested at these particular dogs and wondered whether they had websites.I used to have a Newfie years, back as you know I have Goldies which I show.
Like you I would always recommend seeing breeders in person when deciding a dog from particular kennels:-)
I just happen to be interested in these paricular kennels:-)

Merrybear have a website.  Just put merrybear newfoundlands in google.  Kararan, I think the lady moved to America.

Think she is back, if I am thinking of the right person. But not sure have just been told that, can't remember how long a ban the KC imposed but think it must soon be finished. If I do have the correct person then I believe her husband continued to show and may be breed but not sure about the affix he uses.

If you look in Dog World for July 9 there was a Newfoundland special featuring CH Swanpool Frankie Dettori, Sherridel Limelight and a lot more of the top breeders, another good breeder is Ann Springthorpe of Millthorpe affix, Karazan, I think this lady is either back in the country or about to come back, as I seem to remember her ban is about up or it has been reduced. I have 2 newfoundlands, one that is Merrybears,Karazan,  and Hedd & Del Richards  Sheridel breeding, the male is Landseer and has Wanitopa(Juliet Leicester-Hope) I do not know if they have web sites but the article in the paper has lots of information on all of the breeders that you have mentioned

Hi Britney,

I saw the article in Dogworld and was tracking down websites to read more about the breeders and see photo's of their dogs, quite impressed by some of the hipscore results considering the average is 28.

Now that is interesting as Malcolm willis some time ago wrote into the dog papers in reply to someone about Hip Scoring.

The breed average is worked out on all scores ever.

Mor meaningful is to analyse the scores say in five year segments.  It will then be easier to see if improvements are happening over the generations.  Or in breeds with a lot of dogs scored yearly analysis of the mena scores.

Yes I possibly agree with you Brainless and obviously more to a dog than set of hipscores,it was just nice to read that there are some dogs with 2:3 and 2:2 and a 6:6 . However I'm sure there are plenty of Newfies with higher hipscores but still under the average and have wonderful temperaments and conformation therefore would not put me off.
A number of years back I had'nt come across scores as low as this in the breed but then again I may not had done enough reading i'm sure someone will possibly correct me with more knowledge than I in the breed, but all credit goes to the breeders are these wonderful dogs :-)
