Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Alternative to BARF?
- By ice_cosmos Date 14.07.04 22:06 UTC
Hi there,

I'm looking for the closest alternative to BARF for an 8 week old pup, I have tried him on Naturediet puppy but he will not eat it - he was fed on a raw diet before we collected him but due to complications we have been advised to take him off a raw diet for the meantime.

you could try prize choice.  They do all differents meat minces and the dogs seem to like.  I stopped using it purely because it was a pain having to cook it up but understand that they now do pre cooked frozen chicken etc.

Hiya

What are these complications?

If its a minor illness, then id suggest a bland diet of chicken and rice or fish and potato for a few days, but longer term i dunno, i catn thnk of anything that would stop me feeding my dogs raw!

Prize choice minces are not a complete food, i feed them as part of a raw diet, so i cant really see how that would help.

There are some prizechoice minces that are complete.  They do several that include rice and veggies, so these ones would be fine.

At our pets at home they sell Natures Menu which is a raw meat and vegetables mix and is complete, i buy it for my dogs occasionally and they love it! It costs 75p for a one pound frozen block.
