June 2004 saw the eagerly awaited launch of the Kennel Club Art Gallery on-line database. The site provides researchers with the opportunity to view images taken from the Kennel Club's vast canine collection, as well as learn more about the history of the paintings and the artists who created them.
Images can be retrieved by breed or by artist and the site enables its users to take advantage of its zoom facility, allowing selected areas of a painting to be enlarged. This is an invaluable tool when viewing some of the fine detail contained in many of the collection's historical pieces.
It is hoped that the web site will allow anyone interested in canine art who is unable to travel to the gallery, the opportunity to view the Kennel Club's splendid collection. The site is a wonderful research tool for anyone fascinated by canine art or canine history and it is hoped that visitors will enjoy the site and the wealth of information it contains.
