penny has been in season for 4 wks.  she isn't bleeding any more but is still slightly swollen.  Is she safe to go out yet or should I wait until she is totally back to normal.  This is her first season so I guess that is why it is lasting 4 weeks rather than 3. Thanks

Hi Guest, now that Penny is 'mature' you will find that her bits do not ever return to the puppy size. She will now be forever 'slightly swollen' by comparison. So as long as there is no discharge now I think you can be sure that the season is over. Give her a little wash to minimise any lingering odour and all should be well.

If her bits look closed and there is no discharge of any kind then her season is probably over, but seasons can last a little longer than 3 weeks in some bitches.

As has been said give her a wash won or ath and just watch out for any over interest from boy dogs.
