Does anybody know any supplements or anything I can give my dog to make her coat soft again?

Ana, What breed is your dog, it could be one of the breeds that are supposed to have a harsh coat.

If it isn't and the dog isn't moulting then I would look carefully at it's diet.  Skin and coat as yoiu know from yourself is directly and quite quickly affected by diet.  when we stop eating chocolate and then eat lost of fruti and veg are skin improves.

My golden retrievers' coats have got softer since I changed them from James Wellbeloved to Autarky.

Ana, it is possible that your breed should have a course, hard coat or it could be that your dog has a hormonal problem as that is the main cause of change in coat type. Have checked your profile and it does not mention your breed so perhaps you will let us know so we are not guessing in the dark.

There is nothing you can put on the coat to change the way it is, a dogs coat grows in the way the dogs system decides.

Hi, My dog is a 4 year old, spayed, mixed breed. She's fed on Nature's Menu. Her coat has always been soft, up until the last few weeks. Is it because she's getting older?

When was she spayed, it could well be that the effect can take a long while to start to show, providing you can still groom her ok it should not cause any problems.

A bitch that I bred, was spayed after first season.  A couple of years ago she had a heavy moult, and has never regrown her top coat properly, and her undercoat and top coat are now the same length and both feel likew wire woll.  No amount of supplements, changes in food have made a difference.  Such a shame, as she won firsts at Cham-pionship shows before this happened and used to be a beautiful colour with lovley coat.

I am about to spay her sister after her third and last litter, and do hope her coat remains the close fitting harsh correct coat it has been up to now.

Think I would suspect a hormonal cause rather than a food problem but if in doubt about her health a visit to the vet should put your mind at rest.
