Does anyone know where I can buy benching chains in the York area? I need them for the Leeds show.

You will be able to buy them at Leeds so leave a little time to shop
saves p and P being added too.
Thanks
I really wanted to get them before Leeds. What time do the traders open up at?

Most open shows will have stalls that have benching chains, the stalls open about 1 hour before judging and you can use a normal lead to attach your dog to the bench.

Don't use a normal lead to attach to the bench. Firstly it is very dangerous.
I am not sure but I am certain that somewhere in the red book it states that dogs should be benched with detachable collar and chain.

I'm intrigued - why is a lead so very dangerous to attach a dog to the bench with - more so than a chain, I mean? Some dogs may chew through the lead, but not if you're with them (because you'll obviously stop them!), and then you'll be fine till you can get to one of the stands to buy a chain.
:)

F(1)3.5.5(b)..........Arrangements must be made for the secure fastening of the dogs to the benches.............
That is the only reference i can find in the new Red book for 2004/2005

I have used a normal webbing lead on any number of occasions, well every time I forget to bring the benching chain, as I said any number of times.
Thank you all very much for the information.

A cloth lead is much safer then a benching chain, if a dog was to jump off or get caught up its much easier to cut a cloth lead rather then a benching chain! :) a lead is sucure then their is no problem!
