Hi Everyone

Can anyone tell me if when a bitch is carrying just one puppy, do you see or feel any movment. As ive had my bitch scanned twice , the first time they thought they saw just one puppy, the second time they said couldnt see anything but could miss a couple. My girl has started to lose milk and looks slightly larger. Does anyone had this problem before. I would appreciate any comments.

the litter I just had I was originally told (at the very end of preg) that there was one. In the US we xray quite often at the end of preg. There was question so we did it to see what was actually in there. I didn't believe it because there was so much movement. I went back and there were two. One was big and one was small. But yes there was alot of movement on mine

Hi
Thanks for your reply. My girl must be having a very powerful phantom as she was sick in early pregnancy and has got slightly bigger her teats are huge. Her hormones are running all over as she will not leave my other dog alone she keeps pushing her around and washes her all the time. Thanks again lees.

My Pippa's first litter we were told one pos two on the scan but very unclear she put on hardly any weight and 3 days before she was due I thought I felt a pup move but she was really trim and not a working breed ..she whelped 4 healthy pups and to this day we have no idea where she hid them ...

how far along is your bitch? i couldn't tell that the one I mentioned above was pregnant other than a little weight gain until the end. anyone that didn't know her wouldn't be able to tell other than her nipples were huge and the movement at the end.

Hi,
My bitch would be due  her litter this sunday coming, but like i said there has been no movment but the last couple of days she started to get quite boisterous. My girl also keeps jumping and  looking at her backend and then starts to clean around her teats. She still seams to be bigger around her waist especially when she leans over for a drink it all seams to go towards her ribs and looks even bigger. But still felt no movement. Thanks for all your advice.

Sadly if your bitch reabsorbed her pups she would still have signs of being pregnant.  My girl did just this two weeks ago, she still has a firm rounded belly, and big boobs, she actually looks pregnant and still acts it. ie. digging, burying her food, not eating much etc. but we have had x-rays and scans and they all prove she's no longer pregnant.  My vet says that her body is reabsorbing the pups, so she does still have puppy material inside of her, which is why she looks/acts pregnant.

I do hope you have a pup or two, but don't be surprised if you don't..........it's a sad fact of life I'm afraid and somthing I have had to deal with over the past couple of weeks.  My girl would be due this Sunday too :-(

This is a case where you need to have an xray done. It is very important at this stage to make sure there is a puppy in there or not. many times they don't get the hormones to go through labor and they have primary inertia. my girl ended up going in labor very late. she was really monitored and ended up with an emergency c section.
she would do everything yours is doing except she did have alot of movement so I was sure there were living puppies. If you are still puzzled about this and you think there could be one have an xray done for your own sanity and for mom and possible puppy. you will feel so much better :)
just curious is it a large breed or a small breed?
