Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Are JRTs recognied??
- By Guest [gb] Date 13.07.04 17:14 UTC
Hi all,

Can anyone answer this>  Q1  Are Jack Russel Teeriers recognised by the Kennel Club?
Q2   What is the difference between Parson JRTs and ordinary ones?
Q3  Can they be shown at Crufts?

Regards

Kim

1)   The Jack Russell terriers are not, as yet, recognised by the Kennel Club, the Parson Russell Terriers are recognised.

2)   A gross over simplification but the Parson Russell Terriers are longer legged than the JRTs.

3)   Parson Russell Terriers can be shown at Crufts, Jack Russell Terriers can not.

Hi Kim,
As far as I know: 1) No, JRTs are not recognised by the Kennel Club, so that also answers 3) No, they cannot be shown at Crufts.

For question 2), have a look at the Parson Russell Breed Standard and compare it with the JRTs you see around.

Hope this helps.

In answer to your questions, YES JRT's are recognized but only with the Irish Kennel Club not the English but Ireland is still part of the UK.

If you import a JRT from abroad it can be shown at Crufts in the Parson Russell Class would you believe!?
A friend of mine qualified hers for Crufts & she lives in France when she phoned our KC in England they said she could show in the Parson Class.LOL

The difference between the Parson & a Jack is size, leg length & temperament, the smaller ones have a much more biddable temperament than the Parson for some reason, JMO.

Take it that by Ireland you mean Eire and if so I hope you have told them that the rest of us have taken them over :D Either you do not live in the UK or you have been very mislead some where down the line.

See no point in your contradicting what people have said, the JRT is not recognised in the UK.

Would be interested to see the written conformation from the KC that the dog should be shown in the wrong class.
