Hi today in B'ham city centre I saw a lady with a pink poodle :( yes a pink poodle with a deeper pink bow holding up a topknot. Don't know weather to laugh or cry.

Will it do a dog harm colouring his/her coat. And what is the point someone please explain :(

Vegetable food colouring.
Does not harm dog
Hey those who own breeds that come in several shades often have a preference, It's just a bit of fun :)

Just like dressing dogs up, etc etc

No it will not do any harm if they have used the correct dyes which I am sure the groomers will have.  The point is that its what gives the owner pleasure its not really any different to poodle owners continuing to give them fancy haircuts.  It wouldn't do for me and it clearly doesn't do for you :) but I don't really see any harm in it, it probably indicates the little creature gets lots of attention and not many dogs would complain about that :)

Actually you are probaby right he/she wasn't being cosseted or anything just picked up when they got to avery busy part of the city - which I can't blame them for other than that he/she was just being walked.

Coloured Poodles (and the occassional other breed ) are often used for creative grooming competitions and tutorials, and are frequently seen at weddings too!  Veg. dyes are the most common used, but in the USA (and via the Web now) you can also get coat colouring chalks, which are also harpless to the dog.

bye
