We have a one year old westie who is just wonderful and not at all aggressive.  My son (aged 23) would like to buy a boxer puppy, the problem is how do we get our westie to get used to another dog.  When our daughter comes round with her boxer (who is just so gently and loving) our westie gets very nasty with him.  Any suggestions as to what to do please.  Would really appreciate your expert advise.

Are they going to live in the same house? Generally when introduced as a puppy they are fine.

Little dogs like westies are the perfect dogs that owners tend to spoil a bit, but the behaviour you mention needs nipped in the bud  now I think while he is still young.

Always introduce a new dog on neutral territory. Probably best if they are both on extendable leads too. They will either get on ok or not, great if they do, not a lot you can do if they don't. It maybe that your westie gets nasty with your daughter's boxer because she has cause to, could be that she's trying to teach him some manners, or maybe she's just not sociable with other dogs. How is she around other dogs in general? What happens when she gets nasty with the boxer? Would it turn into a full blown fight do you think?
