hi im soon to have litter of rotties.....im concerned about docking their tails i understand its best to do this between day2 and day5 but from what i understand its a bit of a hot subject and alot of vets dont do it, i havent approached my own vet on the subject yet but prob safe to say she hasnt done this procedure before....whether she would or not i dunno.
any advice on this subject, aftercare vets willing to do the procedure in or around manchester area and cost would be great thanks in advance for any replys
IF you do want to dock then contact the Council of Docked Breeds, they will be able to tell you of vets in your area willing to do it. Hope this helps.

Hi
There's no vets in Manchester that I know of. My vet comes from quite a way. He comes to the house and does it which makes me happier. You HAVE to join the
Council For Docked Breeds and they will give you the information on vets who are willing to carry this out.
'Tis not a necessity to cut bits off dogs though, just because humans prefer the look. Hopefully you have some homes lined up before you mated and have discussed this with your puppy people

Thought it had to be done within the first 48 hours, sure 5 days is to late, that is for tail docking that seems to cause no distress but I think that dew claws are a bigger problem and I am not sure when they have to be done by to avoid the need of a GA.
I have my dew claws removed withing two days of birth preferably within24 hours.
