- By niceguy2702 [gb] Date 09.07.04 12:03 UTC
hi all, im picking up my bullmastiff tomorrow. I have everything i need apart from treats. Which treats are ok for an 8 wk old pup? I looked at some in a pet store and most said from 3 or 4 months!!!!

I would avoid treats from the pet shop they are full of colourings, additives etc which could make you pup hyper or give him the runs.  If he is fed on a complete food I would use part of his daily ration as rewards for training.  For my pup when he was little I used cooked chicken and bits of sausage.  Now he is a bit older (15 weeks) he has liver cake, tripe sticks, chicken wings, dried fish and "kelties" dog biscuits which are natural and made by burns.

You could try barker and barker dried liver treats. They are very tasty for dogs, come in a small size - that can also be broken in half so puppies don't fill up on them too quickly and are made only of liver and garlic so nothing to upset tummies, - but won't make your clothes smell tasty like cheese etc can - which you might want to avoid with a lab.

You can buy them online. Any search engine will find em.
