We have an 22 month old Staffie bitch called Cassie who is white with brindle patches. We were hoping to mate her & let her have just 1 litter of pups but would like some advice as to how we find a suitable stud dog. If anyone could give us some advice as to the steps we need to take it would be much appreciated.  Thanks

Hi nice name, and I am sure a lovely bitch - can I ask why you would like her too have a litter. You would find lots of advice and help if you join too - its free :)

Assuming you have done the necessary health tests on your bitch and she is clear, and that she is a reasonable example of the breed the best place to start is with the bitches breeder. It takes a long while to learn about which breed lines will complement which but the bitches breeder should have this information at their finger tips. Have you checked to see if the bitch has endorsements on her registration, if she has you will have to ask the breeder to remove them. If you have lost contact with the breeder then next best place to ask would be your local breed club, the name of which can be found on the Kennel Club site.

As you are embarking on something that may take a while it would be best if you join us so we can help you sort things as you go.
