Hello there, I have a pretty icky question. My GSD (7 months) has a super sensitive stomach. I tried all kinds of food, I mean all: commercial dry, home cooked, veterinarian diets etc and nothing seemed to work to stop her from having loose stools. So right now she is on canned food from Science Diet and Eukanuba. She has been good since we started feeding her canned food. The thing is her stool looks very weird now. It is black on the outside and brown/yellow on the inside. Is this normal? Also she is super itchy from chicken, or something I am not aware of yet. I have noticed her allergies were getting better on Eukanuba canned food, and science diet got her worse (might still have some sort of chicken products in it). Our vet gave us tons of pills, but I don't believe this will help to get rid of allergies. It might ease the itchiness. We changed 4 vets so far and we are in for a new one on Wednesday with the manager of the clinic. :D We'll see what this one has to say... Does any one else have the same itchy dog and does anyone know any brand of canned food that DOES NOT have any chicken at all, even flavors? Thanks, Alina D.

I had a GSD like that and I am not saying it will work for you but mine was best on tinned Chappy.

Hi Jackie, whats "chappy", and if it's canine food, is it sold only in UK? We live in USA.
thanks

Yes, Chappie is a dog food that has been going as a tinned food for as far back as I can remember (early 1960s) and is still excellent. They now do a dry complete version, which is what I feed my dogs, some of whom have a delicate stomachs. I don't know if it's available in the US though.

Hi Sharon, she was on Natural Choice. And if you look into ingridients it still says POULTRY FAT.

Get your dog allergy tested; blood sampling done by your vet this will show up exactly what your dog is allergic to. Unfortunately foods such as Chappie only list their ingredients as meat and cereal derivatives; this will not indicate exactly what is in it and indeed is used because the contents change even though the overall &age of protein does not etc.
If you are in the US I would look at Innova products.
