Ok, I am now just going to have real moan, I have just had a telphone call to say that Bailey's gundog training w/end has been cancelled. I have been looking forward to this for the last month, probably because I am so pleased and proud of Bailey's progress. But I know that the bigger problem is the loss of funds for the URC. There is nothing now as the next test in August is beyond Bailey as it is an open walked up test. He is too young and we are still at Novice Stage. I need to keep up Baileys training but would prefer to do it under URC. Does anyone know if there is an upcoming training day or w/end. The other problem is that I am in Scotland and I have been travelling into England for his training. Is there anybody in Scotland willing to help me with training? He is only 22 weeks but has covered so much I need to keep going? Please help.

I'm so sorry Kay, I know you were looking forward to it. Trouble is, you are so far away that there is not much I can do to help. Do you know the reason for the cancellation?

Hi John, Oh God I feel really guilty now for moaning about Baileys lost w/end, how selfish can one get. I have just had a phone call to say that one of the trainers has had a bereavement. Wish I had kept my thoughts to myself now.

You were not to know Kay. I can understand your disappointment. Don't worry, you have all the time in the world.
Best wishes, John
Hey Kay,
Sorry to hear that, but does that mean you're coming to Annan fun show now...?

Hi Fi, Yes, What time are you going, Will come with you but leaving dogs at home,
Kay
It starts at 2pm; judging is from 2.30. I'm taking them both and have had a lot of success tonight teaching Danadog to stand. She just loves learning new tricks; shame Talla is so blonde...
There is a class for the dog with the saddest eyes in the novelty section if you fancy taking Bonnie. She'd walk it for sure!
I thought about asking Ewan if he wanted to enter 'best mongrel', but he might take offence. I'm sure he'd enjoy the collar bit though:D
It is Annan, after all. Stranger things will be seen...

I love the area around Annan. I've not been there for years though, we used to stay at a little caravan site at Kirkpatrick Fleming belonging to a man by the name of Archie Currie. Wonderful days! I was there with my first Labrador, Mandy, when she was a baby!
Best wishes, John
Hi John,
Was that the site at Bruce's Cave?
The whole of Annandale is lovely really; I just wish we were more famous for the scenery and less for the recent (sad) history!

No Fi. We were camped right beside the main road although we did visit the cave. I remember it was a scolding hot day when we were at the cave and there was a little stream running through the valley, Mandy's first paddle! After that she paddled as often as she could!
We had a wonderful time and every evening Archie Currie would come round to the caravan and recommend where to go the next day. He was elderly then so I'd guess he's no longer with us. (This was over 30 years ago now!!) Mandy was exploring Edinburgh Castle at 16 weeks old!
Best wishes, John

Hi John, Yes I love it round here too, I live just about 10 miles from Kirkpatrick Fleming. Annan are are their fun day on Saturday and Fi is entering her two labs, and it looks like I have been appointed to go in with her mums Bernese Mountain Dog. That should be good for a laugh, me that is not the dog, shes gorgeous.
Hi Fi, I take it you are not having much luck with Tallah on the training front, huh, having blonde moments. Yes I will take Bonnie, would have taken Penny but I think she is just coming into season, so wont risk it. As for putting a dog collar and lead on Euan, DONT, he might enjoy it. :)

Kay,
I'm not sure if it will help or not but Edward Martin of Sealpin Gundogs is in the Jedburgh area (not sure how far that is from you). I dont know if he runs classes, although I would imagine he would do one to one training.
He is mainly known for spaniels, but does train labradors as well, so may be able to point you in the right direction. I'm pretty sure that he has a website, so you could get contact details on that.
Good Luck
Hi Kay,
Edward Martin was the guy who did the gundog demo at the Highland Show. He had quite a few Labs with him.

Hi Havoc, Thanks, Jedburgh is only about an hours drive from me so that would be good. I will try to find him on the net.
Thanks for info and taking the time.
PS., had a good day at Annan on Saturday, Fi (Fionamm55) took her two labs and came away with a trophy!!! There were tears in her eyes, Sorry for embarrasing you Fi but well done :)
Kay
