To whom it concerns,
We are  DR Julie and Andrew Harlem, we have a beautiful flat coated bitch, whom we intend to mate this winter, we have applied for an affix from the kennel club, but we were wondering if we can advertise as a breeder now, we will soon have the affix, but wish to get some interest in the exciting litter.

Thanking you in anticipation

Guest, think you need to contact admin. direct about this as no advertising is allowed on the forum and your post may be seen as such, be it in the long distance future and the fact that you will no doubt have all the possible pups spoken for anyway.

I think you will find most flatcoat breeders will not advertise anywhere. We rely on people coming to us via the Flatcoated Retriever Society litter register secretary.
If you are using a well known dog the dogs owner will help you place the puppies. Most people who own stud dogs will ask you "Why do you want to breed?" We do try to encourage people to make sure they have possible homes waiting before the bitch is mated.
Most flatcoat bitches will have large litters are you prepared for this as well? Another thing you must consider are the necessay health tests which you will need to get done, such as hip scoring or eye testing. There is an eye testing taking place in Kent, run by Mr & Mrs Hutchison on Thursady 29th July contact details are:
01322 408359 fax 01322 400603 mobile 077040408 or try Mrs Dixon on 01489 785033. I have an eye testing session in October on the 12th in the evening, I am based in Buckinghamshire.
Have you contacted the breeder of your bitch for help in choosing a good stud dog? If not it might be a good idea as they will know the best lines to compliment the lines of your bitch.
Then if you do get a large litter and need help to home them, the stud dog owner and I imagine your breeder will help and will definately suggest you contact Mrs Shirley Johnson who is the litter register secretary. Mrs Johnsons details are available on the Flatcoated Retriever Society Web site.
