I am changing my dog insurance as I am astounded at the premium increase
this year for my dogs policy with More Than it's doubled to £39 per month!
This is for their 'value' policy, I'd hate to think what their premier policy has increased to!

The dog insured is a 6yo Boxer bitch.
The benefits have not increased at all, they claim that they have had to incur rising vets fees
of over 10 times the rate of inflation.
So they have found it necessary to increase premiums and minimum excess substantially.
With insuring 2 other dogs as well, the cost of pet insurance premiums is just getting ridiculous!

I would like to know of any 4-life policies that insure dogs for their life with no ceiling on the
dogs age. Looked at Direct-line but they don't insure the dog for it's life.
Will be calling PetHealthcare services tomorrow (I know that they are owned by More Than, but their premiums are cheaper and they have better benefits than MT)

Any other insurance companies to try???

Have a look at Petplan Boxacrazy.  I'm currently paying £47 per month in total for two dogs, and this is for the top of the range policy, which includes for life cover.  They continue to cover the dog no matter its age, but as it gets older (8+ off the top of my head) there is a higher excess, and, I think, a small percentage of the vet fee to pay.  They also have an option to volunteer to pay a higher excess and percentage, which brings the cost of the premium down.

Thanks Lesley :)

My other two are currently with Pethealthcare, but if they too put up
their premium's as high as More Than I will be looking for more competitive pet insurance
but 4-life policies, which also insure for the dogs lifetime.

Just can't quite believe the premium hike!! from £22 a month for the one dog to £39!
When for exactly the same benefits 2 years ago with the same dog the monthly premium was £12.49
and I haven't moved etc.

I will have a look at Petplan...

That's a huge rise indeed!!!!  My Petplan does go up annually, but only by a couple of pounds, thank heavens!  I'd tell them to take a hike if it went up by the amount yours has just done :D  Every year at renewal I swither about changing company, or going for one of their other policies, but always stay with the one I've got because it seems to cover just about every eventuality!  Hope you get something that suits you and doesn't break the bank too much :)

Pet pals is for life. It's owned by Domestic and General.
I pay around £35 a month for my 3 dogs. They don't exclude either.

I've only recently insured my 2 dogs, and have opted for Direct Line.  I pay about £25 month which is with their advanced policy whereby they insure any condition up to £6000.

I have recently changed from Pet Plan as they hiked the prices up on my two dogs.  I think it might have been a South East thing rather then nationwide, but no letter of explaination just put up the monthly payment.

I have gone over to Marks & Spencers, cover is actually a bit better, excess a bit lower and I saved £217 per year.  They paid up quickly when I had a claim recently too.

What is really bugging me at the moment is the charge from my vet for filling in the claim form.  I have just been charged £7.50 which I can't claim that from the insurance company.
