Topic Dog Boards / General / Toadstools - help!
- By stroppimare [gb] Date 06.07.04 10:41 UTC
Yesterday the dogs were both sick & I think they had eaten some toadstools in the garden. I try my best to dig them out but I have a big area, about 1 acre, & there are quite a few different types of toadstools.
I've been in touch with garden centres, farming & agricultural specialists but no-one seems to know of anything I can use to get rid of the toadstools.

Hope someone can help

I'm not sure there is much you can do but I've heard about putting sugar on them, although this might just make them even more attractive to eat!

First get rid of the toads, the stools will then disappear................

Although Tohmes' version probably works best ;) (LOL)  ...... we use the ready-made versions of 'Feed & Weed' that you sprinkle over grassed areas...leave for 3 days before watering or rain occurs and it certainly seems to cure the problem. (However, the make we use doesn't allow pets to go on the grass until the treatment has been 'watered in', but we are luck that we have an alternative garden for our dog to go in. Have a look at different makes and give it a try.

What brand do you use Jo-Basset, please? And do you know if it works on large toadstools?

Hiya
Its 'Westland' Feed, Weed & Moss Killer. Got it from B&Q in a 100m tub with handle and pouring lid on. (Purple & Green).
The largest toadstools we had were the circumference of a satsuma (sorry, sharing one with the dog at the moment and it fits the size perfectly!)
Obviously, it doesn't refer to the removal of toadstools on the pack at all, but I would imagine as long as the treatment was carried out periodically, any brand of weedkiller would eventually do the job?

HTH

ps - I like your Poster ID BTW ;)
