Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / 'Puppy Packs'

I wondered if anyone knew of where I could get hold of a 'puppy pack' - full of information on owning a puppy (vaccinations, training, socialisation etc.)? I tried the kennel clud website, but didn't see anything offered online. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If you have bought a pup then any good breeder should provide this information- I am pretty sure this information is on the kennel club website though

Think a lot of the pet food people put out these puppy packs and the breeders normaly hand them out along with feeding details. My vets give you one when you take your pup in for is first check up and then another if you take the pup to a puppy party, so I had them all over the place with my last pup. would say to the guest that I would think the breeder of the pup she is getting will be giving her all the information she will need.

If it is that the guest is just contemplating the idea of having a pup, or is acquiring this information for perhaps a son or daughter longing for one & are just wanting to explain the responsibility involved ;) ...then they can do as my friends did last weekend....you can pick one up from a local vet without being registered or indeed an 'owner'.  (My friends sat their daughter down & read through only half the pack before she changed her mind...choosing a new pair of glittery dancing shoes instead  )
I could well be off track suggesting this, but by sheer coincidence, just wanted to point out that it is possible to obtain info.from vets f.o.c.

Some vets have a free book available for new puppy and kitten owners entitled "Scamps Diary" which is updated twice a year and has a lot of useful information - it has the added benefit of some delightful pictures in it of undocked Dobermann puppies playing in my garden  :D

Maybe the guest is a breeder and is looking for a way to get a puppy pack to hand out to the new familys,  do all dog food companies give out puppy packs and what if your feeding a raw diet what would you do then

Not all but a good few, if you feed home made diet guess you will have to write your own book to make sure the puppy buyer gets it right.

I have found one of the best little books is Sherleys dog Book, especially with the bits abut illness and first aid.

I buy these and give each new puppy owner one.  the cost around £3.50 or £4.
