Hi everyone :)
I had my girl at the vet's on Friday, to see about a discharge she's had since whelping (10 weeks ago) and he told me that the only solution is to spay her, as it's a persistant condition that isn't going to be cured through medication. As I'd decided to have her spayed anyway this isn't a disappointment, but I'm still nervous about the operation! This wasn't helped by my bitch's breeder telling me that they almost lost her mother to post-op complications. :(
I know that millions of dogs are spayed in the UK every year without problems and I know I'm being silly, but she's my baby! Fingers crossed that everything goes okay on Tuesday.

Sending her some healing thoughts & cavalier kisses & huggies

I can understand your worries BB, I think we all have a quiet panic when our dogs have anything wrong or are being operated on. The chances on anything going wrong is remote in the extreme but that does not stop us from worrying.
Regards, John
I know exactly how you feel BennyBoo.
I took my lab last monday to be spayed and i was distraught all day. I cried when i left her (i'm a big fat wuss!), when i rang to see if she was ok i got upset because she was! She did end up staying in overnight because she's so hyper and apparently has quite a bit of fatty tissues which can cause extra bruising. It was just so they could keep and eye on her and make sure she was kept 100% calm. She came home the following morning thought.
She's absolutely fine now. Driving me mad as usual!
Your little one will be absolutely fine. Make the most of the few hours extra peace and quiet you'll get!

Thanks everyone for your nice posts :)
Benny is home and doing well. We had to collect her as soon as she came round from the anaesthetic as she was causing an uproar! The vet told me that she was very stressed before her operation, even with the sedatives.
Glad to have her home again :D
