Sorry if this seems a silly question, but a friend told me that she had seen covers to fit over dog crates.  As you know we are moving up to Scotland later this year and will be driving up a couple of times before then. I am worried about Barney getting too hot in the back of the car in his crate, even though the window is always open a tiny bit and we stop every two/three hours.  My question is: would a crate cover help to keep him cool or would it just make the inside of the crate warmer?    Does anyone have one?  Are they any good?  Where will I find one?

Not a tailored crate cover but what about covering the cage with one of those silver "Space Blankets"? Keeping the light to a minimum could help him sleep which would have the effect of helping him keep from overheating and the heat insulation of the Space Blanket should help to stop the sun heating him.
