hi all

i have decided to have a look at broad band, i want to stay with Aol as i don't want to change my email address or lose my wed site, just wanted to know if other's are using it and how is it, im only thinking about getting the silver 1 as i want to be able to do more then 1 thing at a time when on line with out every thing coming to a crawl but don't want to pay over £20 for it lol

thanks

thought u was lesley ;)

are you both using the silver or the gold?
if i was working from home on the PC i would get the gold but as it's only for surfing then i think the silver will be ok for me and the fact that its only £2 more a month :D

any1 else use it?

dont know which I have actually- Its about £25 a month (ish) - just been reduced from £27.
Do you still have to enrol in a 12 month contract ?

A lot of the coming to crawl will depend on your PC.
We used to have a 5yo PC and although it was still ok we found that BB really did clog it up because of the limited amount of RAM and it would almost die in a very short time.
I use a lot of graphic programmes and it just couldn't cope.
Since buying a new PC it's like having rocket power, nothing slows it up.

I agree with that Ingrid-
I noticed the difference when i got my new one ( with double memory). But I do think AOL and others have a habit of "slowing" their systems to "encourage" you to join Broadband

I had problems finding a dial up ISP that didn't cut me off every couple of hours, didn't take over the PC and was reliable, at the time we couldn't have BB.
It wasn't until that arrived in the village that we realised our poor ancient PC was well past it's sell by date, now have 2gb of RAM and nothing slows it.

Well it's ok for some lucky people, we have not got it in our village and I go into a long long sulk if someone mentions the 'B' word :(

Ditto, Jackie!

wow i thought it was slow around here cos we dont even have freeview yet but we do have the b word lol

My pc is only about 3 years old and has 40gig hard drive and 200 odd ram (is that right, the OH know better then i do lol)

i know aol takes over your PC but i like what i got (used to have Btopneworld and aol is 10 times better)

the silver 1 is only about 5 times faster then the full broad band and is about £19.99 which is all i want to pay,

We don't have Freeview and we're only 25 miles from London :( :(

i hate it, they have it on the tell all the time, and you would think that if there advertising in your area you would get it,  around here they said it was something to do with the mountings whats there exscues for you not getting it in your area lol

so i have now gone back to Sky

but have you alway noticd when there is nothing on the TV there is nothing on sky and when there is something good on the TV there are about 6 good things on Sky lol

Shouldn't moan really as we have cable here :) But I'd love to have other channels in the bedroom/kitchen and thought Freeview would be good. Don't know the excuse - but we have lousy reception in this area, so maybe it's to do with that.

Weve been with AOL for years and gone from 56k to Silver to Gold broadband and never had any problems with it at all

WE have Wannadoo (Freeserve that was ) and had no problems with that.
