I really hate to beat a deadhorse, but I happened upon this site while looking for bandogs, and I found the thread with the hysteria over the person who came in contact with some American Bulldogs on a walk.
First, I would like to clear up some misconceptions about bandogs. They are commonly crossed with Neo Mastiff, and American Bulldog in the UK since pitbulls have been restricted. The American cross is commonly the neo/pit cross.
Bandogs are not bred to strike fear in nice people nor are they for thugs. They are bred because kennel clubs have ruined mastiffs and stripped them of their working capacity, leaving them unable to walk even a mere mile. Can you imagine, a dog not being able to walk a mile without overheating? I thougth it was unheard of until I started looking for a pure bred neo mastiff but couldn't find one to keep up with me. This prompted me to get a bandog. They are excellent dogs, and are what you raise them to be, much like any breed of dog, or human for that matter.
Sorry to intrude, but I found some of the misinformation written, and the almost finger pointing like attitude to be vastly offensive. I just wanted to clear any misconceptions up. BTW, the dog the woman encountered was most likely an AB.

Thank you for your comments Barbara, but it may be that your post will be removed, not because of it's topic but because you have included URLs containing information that has not been asked for and may be considered as advertising which is against the TOS. Why did you not add this to the thread you are talking about, we would then perhaps understand what you were talking about, as you did not include the URL for that thread and most people will not do a search.

I would have responded on that thread directly, but after I registered I couldn't get the thread back, even after doing a search within this site. I found the messages doing a bandog search in Yahoo. It was indexed ;) I will see if I can find it again and drop the URL for it.
Advertise what? I don't sell anything.

Could be my interpretation of the TOS, but you are directing people to a web site that they have not asked for, but it is not up to me, admin will decide if the inclusion is required.

Oh, I'm sorry. Are pictures allowed to be posted here? I didn't realize it was against the TOS to drop links to my pics. I wasn't sure how to post pics here as it varies on many message boards... My sincere apologies.
Here is the thread that prompted my response:

Don't apologise to me, I may well have interpreted the rules incorrectly, what I was saying was if you had added your remarks to the original thread then we would know what you were talking about and the URLs would be allowed because you would be illustrating for the benefit of whoever was asking the question. If you understand what I mean ;)

The thread is locked :(

If this thread is removed, fine, but please admin. be so kind as to remove that old bandog thread. I found that by typing in bandog in the Yahoo search engine, and if I found it anyone else can. Certainly any who owns a dominant breed such as rotties, dobes, gsd's, etc. can understand the ignorance prevalent in people knowledgeless about them. That type of thread only creates more ignorance and more fuel against innocent breeds and I would prefer my breed which manages to keep a low profile, stay that way. Thank you for your consideration.

Your post may remain and you are welcome to add your thoughts on the matter here. The original thread on this subject will remain locked.
Barbara Ann...you are entitled to your opinion .
Your opinion however carries no more or no less weight than that of any other member of this board. As such you have no right to request that any post be removed from the board because you personally do not approve of its contents. If a post does not comply with terms and conditions of service, it may be removed or edited, but otherwise, free speech exists here, and it is unreasonable to expect that the opinions of other persons be erased purely at your request.
I understand that you dont like the content of the post, but you have had opportunity to put your point forward..please respect the rights of the others to do the same.

When I read people referring to other's breeding bandogs as "scumbags" I tend to get a bit offended even though I don't breed myself. I thought those types of words violated the TOS...

Not quite sure what you are objecting to BarbaraAnn. The originator of that post was only talking about their experience and did not even know what the breed was! If you want your breed to keep a low profile then what are you doing resurrecting a thread which has been dead for two years? It appears to me that your post it designed to give them exposure rather than the low profile you say you want.

John, I was not referring to the person posting, I was referring to the uneducated sounding people inadvertantly discussing their ignorance on bandogs and attempting to pass it off as fact. The person who posted the initial thread at least had the decency to express some shock when she saw that people were still going on about the topic like a pack of lost hens.

Have now read the original thread and note this is the second time it has been resurrected. Can to some extent understand the first rehash as that was only 3 months and was to put the other side of the coin. But why Barbara rehashes it after over 2 years just to ask for it to be removed is a bit of a puzzle, had she not have done so no one would have re-visited anyway.
Have to say I cant see what the problem was with the original thread, just people stating their view there is no personal attack and we do not have to like other peoples choice of dog nor should we have to put up with other peoples dogs thrust in our faces, in actuality or metaphorically.
Lets all keep the dogs we chose but lets learn that our beloved dogs may not be liked by others, some may cause fear or revulsion so lets not just be sensitive to our own feelings but also those of others.

Jackie, the thread is indexed by a major search engine, that's why.
I certainly understand that NO dog should be forced upon another, and the person with the AB's referenced in the first thread didn't sound like a responsible owner to me if he was allowing his dog to get in children's faces and lick their food (gross!).
Anyway, I found some of the ignorance to be offensive, and since the dogs in question were not even bandogs, quite unneccesary.

>> Jackie, the thread is indexed by a major search engine, that's why. <<
Is that a problem? If someone is interested in any type of dog enough to look them up in a search engine then one assumes they want to see and read about them. The thread contains peoples differing view and links to photos and other sites featuring the various bull breed crosses. Why do you want it removed, and why have you raked it up again. An e-mail to admin would not brought it to everyone's attention again nor added another link from the search engines, whether of not it would have achieved your stated aims of having it removed, I doubt, but I am not in a position to comment on that.

I didn't think of emailing admin. although I see now that would probably have been a better option than arguing with people like you who seem to enjoy it so. I will not contribute any further to this topic as it is a waste of board space.
It's ironic because I had heard horrible things about this site from droves of people on ***** who have had bad experiences with the nastiness that is said to be rampant here, and then later I accidentally found that thread. I see the rumors to be most likely be true. Good day to you Jackie and your poodle ;)

My what? LOL Defiantly not a poodle person but I could understand people being offended by that comment. And no one has been unpleasant to you, why so sensitive.

Can't edit my last post but I meant Definitely not Defiantly :D that will teach me to push the button as I walk out of the door with the dogs.

Funny - I have the opposite opinion of the two sites, but hey! We are all entitled to our own opinion!
