Hi all
Long time no speak!
Angel has just had her first season (at 8months old). She has stopped bleeding but i would like to kno when it is safe to let her off lead again? and how long should i wait til i have her spayed? is 3 months about right?

When did she start bleeding? Often the cessation of bleeding is when the bitch is most fertile, so extra vigilance is required. She should be safe to take out where other dogs are about 4 weeks after the start of her season.

The best time to have her spayed is about 3 months after the end of her season.

4 WEEKS!  OMG!

Millie is having her first season, started swelling 16 days ago, started bleeding 11 days ago.  Haven't noticed any bleeding for a couple of days so we were excitedly looking forward to the swelling going down soon so we could start taking her out again properly (currently having quick walks around the block at 11pm!)

I can't believe we have another 17 days to go! :-(

Millie is likely to be at her most fertile right now! The average season is 21 days, but it is worth taking care for a few days extra, because bitches vary (my last litter was born to a day 20 mating). After 21 days give her a good wash, and wash all her bedding, to remove any lingering scent.
