Hi, just wanted to let you know that I have to see the vet tomorrow, for a full report, but she gave me something to go on the high ones are.
Barney's allergic to cow's milk and beef wheat rice potato also green and white ash trees, haven't clue what they look like loads of trees in the garden, any idea what they look like ? Bang goes his naturediet lamb and rice. Never fed beef to Barney as I alway's thought he had a problem with it, who know if their was beef hidden in any of the other things I gave him ?
Find out other things he is allergic to tomorrow.
Molly, allergic to beef lamb wheat rice something else, I went into shock then, as she has been on naturediet lamb and rice since, april, allergic to all grasses, house is surrounded by grass cannot be avoided, dustmites, and trees she didn't list them will find out tomorrow.
I suppose I will have to check what all their vitamins are made of ?
does that mean commercial foods are out the window ?
I did feed raw last year, any suggestions pls where I go from here ?
thanks for any suggestions eleanor

Glad to hear that you have had the results; you can now see how valuable this sort of testing is and how you can easily prevent problems by just eliminating foods from the diet rather than buying expensive hypoallergenic foods or wasting time on elimination diets, especially when most elimination diets include rice!!!!!

Feed raw, this way you have total control and the dogs will definitely not eat anything that they are allergic to.
Remember, gelatin is made from beef and so you need to avoid food items with this, you can overcome this in supplements by buying capsules etc from Healthspan who use vegetable casings. Most vitamins etc you can get which do not contain other allergens such as soya etc.
Environmental allergens can be treated by homoepathy and sprays such as indorex can deal with house mites.
Hi Tohme, First of all a BIG THANKS for pointing me in the right direction, I would be still struggling for years to come, each elimination diet I tried contained one of the things they were allergic to, with them also having atopic allergies, (they itch all the time anyway) so you have no way of knowing if its the food.
I think my vet is shocked also, she thought that Barney had major atopic allergies and no food problems, she virtually told me it ws a waste of time testing him;;;;;;;; he has more food allergies than he does atopic, he is only allergic to two trees white ash and green ash, surely that can be controlled with the right anthistamines, not Atopica, which he hs been on since april.
Can you pls give me a idea of what to feed, when I think back to feeding raw last year, molly had months of the runs and vomitting off and on, that's why I stopped, but when I check back my diary, she was fine on minced meats, it was bones that , caused the problems maybe too much fat, now she cannot have lamb or beef anyway, will her diet be lacking in vitamins if she cannot have the bones, she was ok with chicken wings, but not legs . Can you give me a idea of a balanced diet for her, my vet is not keen on raw feeding she prefers kibble, so she won't be much help.
Also what supplements to give her , now that they are going on a raw diet, all the supplements I have are out of Holland & Barrett, are the ok to give or are they covered in gelatine sorry for my ignorance;;; is it ok if I open the capsule then give her the vitamins or will they still contain gelatine ?
Also is prize choice meats ok to give, the frozen ones ? Do I go slowly ? I gave her a raw chicken breast and brocolli this morning Barney also, should I just stick with chicken for a few weeks see how they go ?
any help greatly appreciated eleanor

Thank YOU for your appreciation; it encourages me to keep on posting (despite those who appear to think I am an insufferable know it all) ;). When you discover the real CAUSES of problems it means that you can get on with treating them rather than the symptoms which can only be of benefit to your dog (and your pocket),
I do not have the time at this moment to post a detailed response but I will later on. The short answer is start with chicken at first even for a couple of weeks in order to monitor and introduce new sources of protein slowly over time.
You will find many people not keen on raw feeding especially vets, but they DO come round when they see the dog once a year rather than weekly in cases like yours where you have a dog that has mulitple allergies and multiple symptoms and when the symptoms disappear without the need for steroids etc etc etc you will find that vets start to look at things from a different perspective (although it can hurt their pocket).
I can do no better than to recommend you join BritBarf a website where you will find lots of help and is UK based.
Your ash problems could well be solved homeopathically and yes you can pierce gelatin capsules for an allergic dog; it worked for mine :D
Prize choice meats are fine.
I do hope that this results in much better health for your dogs and peace of mind for you. If so that is indeed A RESULT!

ps you can always pm me if you need further clarification.
Remember as well, that when a food is given in it`s raw state he may not be allergic to it, you can try it again but start off with just a couple of foods & gradually add others slowly :) All allergies can be treated by h/pathy, for dust mites the steam cleaning machines will kill them. Get his immune system running as well as can be be, allergies are a way of showing it`s not at it`s best. In time they may disappear altogether, or at least a lot of them.

if you don't mind me asking how much did the york test cost ???
No Problem, the whole test cost £180.00 , they tested for food which would have cost £100, atopic would have been £90 then dustmites I think was £50, getting them all done at the one time was cheaper, they only need a small amount of blood, also my vet thought I was crazy, getting Barney done, (he has suffered for 21/2 yrs of his life) she was so sure, he had severe atopic allergies (he is on atopica) that I was wasting money, turns out he is only allerigic to two trees, now their is no way he needs atopic for two tree allergies, (he has more food allergies than atopic) I have spent a fortune in the past two years these test would have saved me hundreds, and my families life and dogs life whould have been SO much happier and stress free. I am insured, a rubbish policy though, due to run out shortly. But I also tried various homeopathic, and american medications looking for the cure, no one has ever , mentioned allergy testing, I tried two years of food trials no luck, now I know why? sorry I am going on a bit, due to go to the vets today for the rest of the results, she was to bussy to see me yesterday. (my vet did not want to test any of my dogs only for TOHME pushing me in that direction , and loads of phone calls to the vets, I eventually got them done) I think to shut me up.
hope this helps eleanor
